Daily Word Expression

For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Psalm 84:10 KJV

Better is one day in your courts

than a thousand elsewhere;

I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God

than dwell in the tents of the wicked

Psalm 84:10 NIV

This is a personal thing the Psalmist here obviously knew something about what was going on on the other side. In the life of a believer you will come to know that the wicked have all type of things to offer. The enemy will not put anything in front of you that doesn't seem appealing or attractive. As a child, you may have heard the statement "Everything that glitters is not gold" in fact the Psalmist added to this, the Psalm like anyone who really gets to know how eternally good it is to be close and in the presence of The Lord compared to any thing the devil can offer. It may come in the form of anything but as you know that it always comes with a price and usually is designed to keep you away from God and contrary to anything that God has to offer. It often seems like the wicked are succeeding and advancing in the world it is filled with people honoring the wrong things and looking at people who fear God as the senseless ones. These scriptures give you comfort from a concerned and understanding God: A Psalm of David. Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Psalm 37: 1-2. Bill Withers has a line in his 1971 song "Grandmas Hand" that states "baby don't you run so fast might fall on a piece of glass, might be snakes there in that grass" the statement directs to the statement that was said earlier everything that glitters is not gold. The real treasure is the security comfort and reward that being close to and dwelling in the House of The Lord gives not just here but eternally. Out of all the things in the world they are all temporal as Solomon put it "Vanity all Vanity" see Ecclesiastes. Psalm 27:4 says: One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple. Nothing will satisfy you other than the fulfillment that God can give you. NOTHING can compare to his blessings His love and being in His presence. The next time the devil has something to offer you or the wicked wants to try to invite you to something let the devil know that I'm too busy to dwell with you or yours because I'm about The House of The Lord. the devil will already know but say it anyway for your own reassurance and recertification of belong to and where you would rather be. The more you taste of The Lord the more bitter and distasteful the wickedness in The World becomes. Praise The LORD praise ye the Lord
